Shannon Holler and Brandon Wik named to All-Area Academic Team
    Holler is the daughter of Kevin and Jessica Holler of Pierpont and has compiled a 3.977 grade point average.  She has participated in basketball, volleyball, yearbook, pep club, the kindergarten mentor program, student council, and school play.  Her community activities have included her church youth group, the Paint South Dakota program, Santa Claus Day, and community fundraisers.  The highlight of her prep career was receiving highest honors on graduation.  The Langford Area senior plans to attend South Dakota State University and major in pharmacy.  Her 10-year goal is to be a retail pharmacist somewhere near Langford so she can be close to family.

    Wik transferred to Langford Area when the Roslyn School District closed its doors and has compiled a 3.391 GPA.  The son of Gary and Donna Wik of Webster, he has been active in football, basketball, baseball, and FFA.  Community activities have included umpiring Little League games, church youth group, and he is a member of the U.S. Army Reserve.  Honors have included LAHS Best & Brightest, Heisman Award winner, All-Conference football, team captain for football and basketball, HOBY participant, and perfect school attendance for three straight years.  Wik’s future plans include attending Lake Area Technical Institute in Watertown to study the energy technology program.  His 10-year goals include working at a wind turbine construction company or working his way up to manage an ethanol plant.  He also plans to move back to the family farm someday and raise a family of his own.
